Frigidaire Ice Maker Not Working: Fill Valve First, Then the Frozen Tube, Then the Module
Frigidaire ice makers stop over water delivery more than mechanism: weeping fill valves, frozen fill tubes, starved flow. The check order that works.

Bothell spans two counties, three water systems and two electric utilities, yet its ice makers fail in familiar ways. We cover downtown, Canyon Park, North Creek and everything between, about 17–22 minutes from our shop.
About 31,000 Bothell residents live on the King County side and about 20,500 on the Snohomish side, and the line runs right through the city. North of it, homes get electricity from Snohomish County PUD; south of it, generally from Puget Sound Energy. Water is split too. The City of Bothell has drawn from Seattle's Tolt pipeline since 1963, while Canyon Park and North Creek are on the Alderwood district's Everett supply, and Northshore Utility District covers some streets. All three are soft, roughly 0.7 to 1.4 grains per gallon, so none of them is building scale in your ice maker. For our purposes, the county line changes the utility bill, not the repair.
What does change the repair is the kind of home. Bothell's population grew by more than 40% between 2010 and 2020, and about 39% of its housing is newer than 2000. Downtown added roughly 1,300 apartments and townhomes, the office parks of Canyon Park and North Creek filled in with subdivisions, and about 6% of homes are manufactured. A third-floor townhome kitchen, a 1990s house off Thrasher's Corner and a manufactured home near the county line each give an ice maker a different set of problems. Pop Keeney Stadium, the Park at Bothell Landing and the Sammamish River Trail mark the old center of town, ringed by post-war streets that predate the growth that followed I-405 in 1968.
Manufactured homes deserve their own note. In those homes the water supply runs under the floor inside the skirting, where a hard freeze reaches it long before it touches anything in a site-built house. When a refrigerator in a Bothell manufactured home loses both its dispenser and its ice maker on a cold morning, the appliance is usually fine; the line feeding it has frozen. We find the frozen stretch, check it for damage once it thaws, and tell you plainly whether the protection under the home needs attention from a plumber.
Downtown and around the UW Bothell and Cascadia campus, the work is mostly in townhomes and apartments. Kitchens sit on upper floors at the end of long supply runs, refrigerators are typically builder-grade French-door or bottom-freezer models, and ice trouble often traces back to pressure and filters before parts. In the subdivisions of North Creek, Canyon Park, Westhill and Queensborough, refrigerators bought in the 2000s and 2010s are reaching the age where modules and valves begin to fail. Bothell is also the second-largest biotech hub in Washington, and if you work long days in Canyon Park or North Creek, putting the model number and the symptom in the online booking form lets us prepare before you are home.
We drive in by I-5 and I-405 and reach downtown Main Street in about 17–22 minutes off-peak, North Creek in roughly 19–23. Beckstrom Hill, Shelton View, Fitzgerald and the streets toward Maltby are covered at the same pricing, with no distance surcharge. Bothell sits in the convergence zone as well, and the heavy, wet snow that band can bring is hard on power lines along wooded streets; after an outage, empty any fused ice from the bin before switching the maker back on.

Ice maker repair in Bothell starts at $295. The most frequent jobs fall into three groups: a new fill valve, a frozen fill line inside the freezer thawed and protected, and, when the module itself has failed, a replacement ice maker unit, which sits at the upper end. That is a starting figure for the area, not a quote for your model. The $85 diagnostic decides which one applies, the exact cost goes on a written estimate, and approving it folds the diagnostic into the repair. Supply lines under a manufactured home are house plumbing, so if one has split we show you where, and a plumber quotes that part.
Starting prices for the north Seattle area, 2026. The $85 diagnostic is included in any repair you approve, and the exact price is in the written estimate before work starts.
With so much of Bothell built after 2000, many refrigerators here are between ten and twenty years old, which is exactly the range where the question comes up. Our rule of thumb: if the freezer holds near 0°F, the compressor runs quietly and the cabinet and doors are in good shape, repairing the ice side is the better value at almost any age, because valves and modules cost a fraction of a new refrigerator. Replacement makes more sense when the ice problem is one of several, for example a failing control board, a dispenser that leaks and a freezer that runs warm. Manufactured homes add a size limit: their refrigerator openings are often narrower, so a fitting replacement can be harder to find, which pushes the balance further toward repairing what is already there. If you rent near the campus, the owner usually makes that call, and we phone whoever approves it to go over the estimate.
Not to us. King County and Snohomish County addresses in Bothell get the same pricing, the same same-day window and the same written estimate. The only practical difference is which utility you call during an outage and which water district bills you, and all of Bothell's water is soft enough that scale is rarely part of an ice maker repair.
Probably not. The supply line under the floor is the most exposed part of the plumbing, and it often freezes before anything inside the kitchen does. Keep the ice maker switched off until water returns. If the line split, you may see water under the home once it thaws; shut off the supply and call us so we can locate the damage.
Usually one of two things. A new filter that was not flushed can release fine carbon for the first few batches, which clears after you run water through the dispenser. Gray flakes that keep appearing are more likely the coating on the ice mold wearing away. In that case the ice maker assembly should be replaced.
Yes. North Creek takes about 19–23 minutes in light traffic, Canyon Park a little less, and the Maltby side is covered too, with no distance surcharge anywhere. Reach us in the morning, any day Monday to Saturday, and we normally come that same day.
Check that the ice maker switch is on and the shutoff behind or under the fridge is open. A new refrigerator also needs about a day to cool the freezer before the first harvest. If both check out and there is still no ice after a day, the line may be kinked or full of air, which we can sort out quickly.
