Error codes, app alerts and real fixes for Bothell dishwashers
Bothell grew more than 40% in the 2010s, and its newer dishwashers report faults by code or phone app. We read the codes, find the real cause and fix it on either side of the county line, 17–22 minutes from our shop.

Few cities on our routes changed as quickly as Bothell. I-405 made it a commuter town in the late 1960s, office parks filled North Creek and Canyon Park in the 80s and 90s, and by 2020 around 1,300 apartments and townhomes had gone up in and around downtown. The result is a housing stock where nearly four homes in ten are from this century. Those kitchens hold LG, Samsung, GE Profile and Bosch machines that display error codes, chirp alerts to a phone, and log their own fault history.
The codes help, but they only point to a symptom. An LG OE code means the machine could not drain, not that the drain pump is dead, and a Samsung 4C means water did not arrive as expected, which can be a closed valve as easily as a failed part. Our job is to take the code as a starting clue and test the actual cause, so the repair goes to the part that failed and not to the one the code happened to name. Bothell's mix also includes older homes on Westhill and around downtown and a noticeable share of manufactured homes, each with its own quirks and its own older, simpler machines.
Bothell dishwasher codes and symptoms
LG shows OE and water stays in the tub
- Likely cause
- Drain hose pinched when the unit was pushed back, or a blocked filter
- What we do
- Clear the filter, check the hose route, test the pump
LG IE or Samsung 4C at the start of a cycle
- Likely cause
- Supply valve partly closed, kinked line or failed inlet valve
- What we do
- Check the valve under the sink and the line, then test the inlet valve
Phone app reports a leak, machine stops
- Likely cause
- Water in the base pan has lifted the leak sensor
- What we do
- Find the leak source, dry the pan, repair the hose, seal or door
Beeps and stops mid-cycle in a downtown apartment
- Likely cause
- Door latch switch losing contact
- What we do
- Test and replace the latch, adjust the door strike
Machine rocks or the door rubs in a manufactured home
- Likely cause
- Light cabinetry and loose mounting brackets
- What we do
- Re-secure the unit, level it and recheck door alignment
Panel works but nothing starts
- Likely cause
- Control board or user interface fault
- What we do
- Read stored fault codes, test the board, replace if failed
Two counties, two water sources, many kinds of home
Bothell straddles the King–Snohomish county line, and its water does too. The City of Bothell utility has drawn from Seattle's Tolt pipeline since 1963, at roughly 1.2 to 1.4 grains per gallon. Canyon Park and North Creek are served by the Alderwood district with Everett water, around 0.7 grains per gallon, and parts of the city use the Northshore district. All of it is soft. Scale is rarely what stops a Bothell dishwasher; too much detergent is more often what clouds its glasses.
Connected machines bring a new kind of call. An app may say the dishwasher has a leak, or a drain fault, while the machine looks fine to the owner. Before booking, note the exact wording of the alert and the model number from the tag inside the door edge, then type both into the booking form or read them to us when you call. Many LG and Samsung codes point to a short list of causes, and knowing which list we are working from lets us bring the right parts. Keep in mind that some connected models need a reset through the app or a power cycle at the breaker after a fault is cleared.
About 6% of Bothell homes are manufactured, with a slightly higher share in unincorporated Bothell West. Dishwashers in those homes sit in lighter cabinetry, sometimes on a floor that flexes, so mounting and leveling matter more than usual. A door that rubs or a slow leak at one front corner is often an alignment problem we can correct without new parts. We also check that the drain hose is clamped where it meets the sink tailpiece or disposal, because a loose connection under a light cabinet floor can drip for weeks before anyone notices.
Starting prices for Bothell dishwasher repairs
Dishwasher repair in Bothell starts at $255. Drain codes are the call we take most here, and a worn drain pump is a common end to them; fill codes tend to lead to the inlet valve, and connected and touch-panel machines sometimes need a control board, which sits at the upper end of the scale. That opening figure is a floor for the category, not a quote for your machine. We confirm the cause with the $85 diagnostic, put the exact price in writing, and start only when you approve. If the code turns out to come from a pinched hose or a packed filter, we say so and no part gets replaced.

Is a newer Bothell dishwasher worth repairing?
For machines bought in the last ten years, repair usually wins. A pump, valve or latch repair still costs well under a comparable new unit, a board is a closer comparison we work through with you, and the tubs and racks on current models are rarely worn out. Check your paperwork first, though: a dishwasher only two or three years old may still be covered by the maker's warranty, and that call should go to the manufacturer. Older Westhill and downtown houses with machines past twelve years are different, especially if the tub shows rust or the board has already been replaced once. In manufactured homes, check the opening before replacing, since some use 18-inch units with limited model choices. In the large downtown apartment buildings, the owner or manager normally decides. On the Snohomish County side, many 1990s and early-2000s houses still run their builder machines, which are now at the age when a second major part tends to follow the first. Either way, we give you the repair price and an honest view of the machine's remaining life.
Common questions
What do LG dishwasher codes OE and IE mean?
OE is a drain error: the machine could not empty in the expected time. Check the filter first. IE is an inlet error: not enough water arrived. Make sure the valve under the sink is fully open. If either code returns after those checks, the hose, the drain pump or the inlet valve needs testing, and we can do that on the same visit.
Do you work on both sides of the county line in Bothell?
Yes. Downtown, Westhill and the King County neighborhoods, plus Canyon Park, North Creek, Thrasher's Corner and the Snohomish County side, are all in our area. Most addresses are 17–22 minutes from our Mountlake Terrace shop off-peak via I-5 and I-405. A morning call usually means a same-day visit.
Can you repair a dishwasher in a manufactured home?
Yes. The repairs are the same as in any home, but we pay extra attention to mounting, leveling and the supply and drain connections, since manufactured-home cabinetry and floors can move more. Some homes use 18-inch machines; tell us the width and model when you book so we bring parts that fit.
My dishwasher app shows an alert. What should I tell you when I book?
Give us the wording of the alert, the exact code if one appears on the panel, and the model and serial numbers from the tag, usually on the edge of the door or the tub frame. Put them in the booking form or read them out when you call. With that, we can often tell you the likely cause and whether a simple check, such as cleaning the filter, might clear it before a visit.
Is Bothell's water hard on dishwashers?
No. Downtown water comes from Seattle's Tolt supply at roughly 1.2 to 1.4 grains per gallon, and Canyon Park and North Creek get Everett water at about 0.7. Both are soft, so heaters and spray arms rarely scale up. Use a lighter detergent dose and keep rinse aid filled for clear glasses.
