Starting prices, and how we reach your number

Each repair category on this page has one starting price: where a repair of that kind begins in our area. Install prices include the equipment and installation. The diagnostic turns either into an exact written number before any work begins.

  • $85 diagnostic, included in the repair
  • Same-day visits Mon–Sat
  • 5.0 on Google
  • $85 diagnosticBecomes part of the repair price when you say yes. If you pass on the repair, that visit is all you pay.
  • Up to $18 offAny repair requested through the online form. The diagnostic itself is never reduced.
  • $10 offA second appliance’s diagnostic when we check it during the same trip.

How the diagnostic visit works

A technician comes out, tests the appliance or system, and finds what failed and why. Then you get one written estimate with the exact price of the repair, before anything is taken apart for good. The diagnostic costs $85. If you say yes to the repair, that $85 is included in the repair price rather than billed as a separate visit. If you say no, the $85 is the entire bill, and the written estimate is yours to keep.

Nothing gets replaced before you approve the number, and every completed repair carries a written warranty.

Booking online and checking a second appliance

Requests sent through the booking form on this site get up to $18 taken off the repair. The saving applies to the repair, never to the diagnostic, and the exact amount appears on your written estimate. Separately, if you ask us to look at a second appliance while we're already there, its diagnostic costs $10 less than the first.

A common example: the dishwasher stopped draining and the dryer has been squealing for a month. Book online, and the dishwasher repair comes down by up to $18, while the dryer's diagnostic drops by $10. Each repair gets its own written price, so you can approve one and hold off on the other.

Installs, site visits and utility programs

Install prices work differently from the repair categories: each one is for a complete new system, with the equipment and installation included. A gas furnace at 95% efficiency or better starts from $6,500, a heat pump with its air handler from $7,000, and a single-zone ductless mini-split from $4,000. Multi-zone mini-split systems depend too much on the layout of the house for a starting figure, so we quote those on request. Before any install, a technician visits, measures and writes a quote; that visit and the quote cost you nothing.

Utility programs depend on who supplies your electricity: Snohomish County PUD in the Snohomish County cities, Seattle City Light in Seattle, Shoreline and Lake Forest Park, and Puget Sound Energy in Kenmore, Kirkland, Woodinville and King County Bothell. PSE supplies gas across the whole area. We check which heat pump programs or rebates apply to your address and equipment, and tell you what we find.

What moves the number

Each household appliance category has one starting figure, and the repair on your unit lands at that figure or above it depending on what the diagnostic finds: which component failed, how the machine is built and how hard it is to reach. A dishwasher latch sits near the start of its category; a control board sits higher. A built-in refrigerator or a stacked laundry pair takes longer to pull out and open up than a freestanding unit. Refrigerator sealed-system work, a compressor or a refrigerant leak, has its own row starting at $850, because recovering the refrigerant, brazing and recharging take hours.

One washer job is not on our list at all: replacing worn tub bearings and the rear tub seal. When a washer roars on spin, the drum wobbles, water seeps from the back or rust streaks run down the tub, we confirm the bearings during the diagnostic and explain that we don't do bearing replacements, which usually makes a new washer the more sensible way to spend the money. Everything else on a washer we repair.

Heating and cooling follow the same pattern. AC and heat pump repair, furnace repair and mini-split repair each start at their own figure, and where a job lands above it depends on the fault: a variable-speed ECM blower sits higher in the furnace category than a standard PSC motor, and refrigerant quantity, attic or crawlspace access and the age of the equipment play in as well.

Install starting prices assume like-for-like equipment on the existing ducts, line set, pad and electrical circuit. New ductwork, a replacement line set, an electrical panel upgrade, rerouted condensate or a larger system all push the price up. Whatever the reason, you see it on the written estimate before you agree to anything.

Common questions

Why do you show only a starting price?

Because the same symptom can come from very different faults. A gas dryer that won't heat may have a blown thermal fuse, a weak igniter or a vent packed with lint, and nobody can say which until it's tested. A fixed number posted in advance would be wrong for most homes, so we publish where each category starts and let the diagnostic supply your real figure.

Can the online saving come off the diagnostic?

No. The saving of up to $18 for booking online applies only to the repair itself. The diagnostic stays at $85, and if you approve the repair it is included in the repair price anyway. If you decline the repair, the diagnostic is the only charge, and there's no online reduction on it.

What does a starting price mean?

It is where a repair in that category begins in our area: refrigerator repair, for example, starts at $265. The price for your unit depends on what the diagnostic finds, so it can land at that figure or above it. The $85 diagnostic is included in the repair you approve, and you get the exact price in writing before work starts. Install prices are separate and cover the new equipment and installation.

What does a tune-up cost?

Tune-ups start from $149 for one system. That covers the burner or compressor side, flame sensor, capacitor, condensate drain, filter and thermostat. If the technician finds a worn part, such as a weak capacitor or a coated flame sensor, you get a written price for it and decide whether to replace it during the same visit.

How are multi-zone mini-splits priced?

On request, after a site visit. A single-zone system has a starting price, and so does each added zone, but a true multi-zone layout depends on how many rooms, how far the line sets run and where the outdoor unit can sit. The visit and quote cost nothing, and the written price includes the equipment and installation.

What if the repair costs more than the appliance is worth?

Then we say so before you spend anything beyond the diagnostic. We weigh the repair price against the age of the unit and what a comparable new one costs, and give you our view in plain terms. A washer with failed tub bearings is one case where we point you toward a new machine, since we don't do bearing jobs. The $85 covers the visit either way.
