Everett dryer repair in the most electric city we serve

Two of every three Everett households keep warm with electric heat, and the dryers follow suit: most plug into a 240-volt outlet. We fix them from Riverside and Bayside down to the apartment blocks around Everett Mall.

Everett's north end is a mill town that never got knocked down. Riverside, Northwest, Bayside and Rucker Hill still hold thousands of houses from the early 1900s, roughly one home in six citywide predating 1940, and in most of them the laundry was an afterthought squeezed into a basement or a back porch. Their dryers sit on circuits that have been updated in pieces over a century, vent through foundation walls or old window openings, and share space with furnaces, water heaters and storage. When an older Everett dryer starts acting up, we look at the house around it as carefully as the machine.

South of downtown, the city changes completely. Neighborhoods like Silver Lake, Cascade View, Holly and Pinehurst–Beverly Park came into the city through a string of annexations between 1959 and 1972, then kept filling in as the plant by Paine Field hired, and today more than a quarter of Everett homes sit in buildings of two to nineteen units, plus another 19% in larger complexes. Duplexes, fourplexes and small apartment buildings often share one laundry room with a sturdy commercial-style pair, and Speed Queen dryers are common there. We repair those, the full-size dryers in houses, and the stacked units in newer apartments.

Everett dryer problems, mostly the electric kind

  • Drum turns but no heat on an electric dryer

    Likely cause
Open heating element, thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat
    What we do
Meter each in turn and replace the one that failed
  • Heats on high, cold on low or medium

    Likely cause
Cycling thermostat or one open section of a dual element
    What we do
Test the low and high heat circuits separately; swap the part that failed
  • Dryer moved to a new rental and now won't heat

    Likely cause
Mismatched cord or a ground strap set wrong for the outlet
    What we do
Install a matching cord and rewire the block's ground link to suit
  • Shared-laundry Speed Queen stops mid-cycle

    Likely cause
Motor overload from lint in the blower or a worn belt
    What we do
Clean the blower, test the motor, replace the belt
  • Breaker trips in an older north-end house

    Likely cause
Element shorted to the housing, or a fault on the house side
    What we do
Test the dryer fully; refer panel or outlet issues to an electrician
  • Display blank after a storm outage

    Likely cause
Board damaged by the surge when power returned
    What we do
Confirm line voltage first, then bench-check the board

North-end basements, south-end apartments and Navy moves

In the old north-end houses, two things decide how long a dryer lasts. The first is the vent path: a duct that leaves through a foundation wall at ground level, or snakes across a basement to an old coal-chute opening, collects lint and moisture fast in a town where the Convergence Zone's northern edge usually parks its showers. The second is power. A dryer that heats weakly, trips a breaker or leaves scorch marks at its cord may be fine inside and suffering from a tired outlet or a loose connection in the circuit. We test the dryer thoroughly, fix what's ours to fix, and tell you plainly when an electrician should look at the house side.

South Everett's apartment and duplex buildings bring small landlords into the picture. A shared laundry room with one Speed Queen pair may serve six or eight households, so a dead dryer there becomes everyone's problem within a day. Those machines are built heavy and are worth keeping running; most failures are belts, rollers, thermostats and heating elements, and we carry them. Owners get a written quote before any work, and we're glad to coordinate with a tenant who lets us in.

Everett also sees a steady flow of moves, with Naval Station Everett, Paine Field and the Boeing plant bringing families in and out. A dryer that worked fine in the last house can arrive with a crushed rear panel, a damaged drum roller from being tipped on a dolly, or a three-prong cord that doesn't fit the new four-prong outlet. Snohomish County PUD supplies power across the city, and after a big outage like November 2024's windstorm, when the PUD reported more than 70,000 customers dark, electronic dryers sometimes come back with a blank display.

Everett dryer repair: where prices start

Everett dryer repair starts at $235. On the mostly electric machines here, burned-out heating elements, blown thermal fuses or thermostats and the odd control board make up the bulk of the work. That starting figure covers our whole service area, north Everett included, with no distance surcharge; they are not a quote. The $85 diagnostic shows which element, fuse or board your dryer actually needs, the written estimate gives the exact price before any work, and approving the repair folds the diagnostic into that price.

Repair or replace an electric dryer in Everett

Few machines in a house give up their failed parts as easily as an electric dryer. The parts that fail most, elements, fuses, thermostats, belts and rollers, are inexpensive and quick to change, and the motor and drum usually outlive them by years. In north-end basements where getting a new dryer down the stairs is a project, repair is almost always the better choice unless the drum is rusting or the motor is failing at the same time as another major part. For landlords running shared laundry rooms, a commercial-style dryer like a Speed Queen is built for decades of use and is nearly always worth repairing. Newer electronic dryers with failed main boards are where we'd compare costs carefully, especially past ten years. Whatever the age, if a dryer is tripping breakers or scorching its cord, we sort out whether the fault is inside the machine before anyone spends money on a new one. For a family just arriving on a Navy posting, a quick repair also beats shopping for a dryer mid-unpack.

Common questions

Do you repair Speed Queen dryers in shared laundry rooms?

Yes. We repair Speed Queen and other heavy-duty dryers in duplexes and small apartment buildings across Everett, working on the heat, drive and control systems. Owners get a written quote before any repair, and a tenant can let us in once the owner approves by phone.

I just moved to Everett and my dryer won't heat. Why?

Moves are hard on dryers. The usual causes are a cord that doesn't match the new outlet, a ground strap set wrong, a thermal fuse jarred loose or a vent hose crushed behind the machine. Check that both halves of the dryer's breaker are on, then call us and we'll sort it out.

Do you go all the way to north Everett?

Yes. Count on roughly 18 to 23 minutes of driving to the mall area and 25 to 32 to the streets around Legion Park, outside rush periods. Both get same-day visits, Monday to Saturday, when your request comes in during the morning, and the distance adds nothing to the price.

How do I know if it's the dryer or the house wiring?

That's what the diagnostic answers. We test the dryer's element, thermostats, motor and terminal block, and check the voltage reaching it. If the dryer is healthy and the supply is wrong, we tell you so and suggest an electrician. If the dryer is at fault, you get a written price for the repair.

Can a landlord book a repair for a tenant's unit?

Of course. The landlord can book online or call, and we'll arrange access with the tenant. The written quote goes to whoever approves the work, and nothing is replaced until they say yes. If a washer in the same laundry room needs a look too, its diagnostic costs $10 less on the same trip.
